USMNT international Sergino Dest joins PSV Eindhoven from Barcelona on permanent deal

USMNT international Sergino Dest has completed a permanent move to PSV Eindhoven from Barcelona.

The 23-year-old defender joined the Eredivisie club on loan last summer in a deal that included a future option to buy.

He made 25 appearances, scoring two goals and providing six assists, as PSV won the Dutch league title for the first time in six years.

The Dutch side have now triggered the option to sign Dest on a permanent basis. He joins on a four-year contract through to 2028.

The transfer includes a sell-on clause that entitles Barcelona to a percentage of any future sale involving the USA international.

Dest, who has been capped 33 times for his country, was ruled out of this year’s Copa America after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

He will continue his recovery when he joins up with the squad later this summer.

“PSV believe in me and I feel greatly appreciated here,” said Dest.

He added: “I’m really looking forward to playing again, being important and winning titles.”

PSV sporting director Earnie Stewart added: “He played an important role in the 25th national title.

“When he came over last year I knew that we were bringing in a very good player. He has proven that several times at the highest level. His arrival is a very good start to the transfer summer.”

Dest joined Barcelona in 2020 from Ajax. He made 51 league appearances for Barca in his first two seasons before spending the 2022-23 season on loan at AC Milan.
