The Pittsburgh Steelers are trading quarterback Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles as part of a pick swap, a source confirmed to The Athletic.
The move comes shortly after the Steelers signed former Broncos and Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson to a one-year deal.
Pickett was set to enter his third season with Pittsburgh after the franchise selected him with a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
He’s started 24 games in his first two seasons and the Steelers went 7-5 with him under center in both of those years. He’s completed 62.6 percent of his passes for 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions during his career.
The Pickett trade leaves the Steelers without a quarterback from last season on their roster. Backups Mitchell Trubisky and Mason Rudolph signed with the Buffalo Bills and Titans, respectively.
Pickett is now in line to be the Eagles backup quarterback behind starter Jalen Hurts. Marcus Mariota, Philadelphia’s backup in 2023 signed with the Washington Commanders this week.
