INDIANAPOLIS — Just a few hours after agreeing to a contract restructure with quarterback Matthew Stafford, the Los Angeles Rams also locked in his blind-side protector.
Per a league source, L.A. will extend starting left tackle Alaric Jackson on a three-year deal. ESPN reported the deal’s value at $57 million, with $35 million guaranteed.
Jackson is just 26 years old, and an undrafted free agent who became a starter in 2023. In 2024, he had his best season — allowing only 22 pressures in 14 games, which ranked in the upper quarter of the NFL. (He was suspended in Weeks 1 and 2, and the Rams rested starters in Week 18.) He allowed just three sacks, and his 4.7 percent pressure rate on pass-blocking snaps ranked among the top 15 tackles who played at least 500 snaps according to TruMedia.

The Rams took a similar approach to free agency last offseason with Kevin Dotson, extending the starting right guard before the legal tampering window opened, and didn’t want to compete in an open market for Jackson, either. With Stafford’s agreement to a specific number/term earlier Friday, the Rams were able to fit another puzzle piece into place as they approach free agency.
With Jackson’s extension, the Rams have all but one of their starting offensive linemen (right tackle Rob Havenstein) under contract for at least the next two seasons.
