Mr. & Mrs. Smith’s Quaint Lake Como Villa Is Available for Booking

An antiques-filled villa along the waterfront of Italy’s Lake Como, which serves as a hideaway for the titular spies in the new Prime Video show Mr. & Mrs. Smith, is now open for bookings on vacation rental site HomeToGo. The limited series’ eight-episode first season dropped in February.

Donald Glover and Maya Erskine star as spy agency employees “John and Jane Smith.” The duo start as strangers but are thrown together to become partners in business and in marriage. Fortunately, they’ve got a beautiful setting in which to make the awkward transition; a stylish New York brownstone serves as the couple’s main residence, but the Lake Como retreat that the characters relocate to in episode five might just take the cake.

Dubbed “The Writer’s Nest,” the three-bedroom vacation villa is situated along the shore of the iconic lake in Italy’s Faggeto Lario region. Crafted within a stone quarry, its construction dates back to the late 1800s. Fans can wake up to breakfast each morning in the centuries-old kitchen, which features a sink carved into granite. Author Giuseppe Guin wrote his novels here, earning the abode its nickname.

As its listing states, the three-bedroom, two bathroom home spans 1,290 square feet and charges $860 nightly. Despite the historic structure and lots of antiques, there are a number of modern perks, such as air conditioning and a dishwasher. Walls of windows capitalize on its picturesque waterfront surroundings. The home’s cozy library is outfitted with warm natural materials including chestnut and stone, while exposed beams and hand-forged iron lanterns add charm throughout the home.
