Manchester United’s Omari Forson expected to leave after rejecting latest contract offer

Omari Forson is expected to leave Manchester United this summer after failing to agree a contract renewal.

The 19-year-old made his first-team debut for United in the FA Cup third round victory at Wigan Athletic in January and made his first Premier League appearance as a substitute against Wolves on February 1, when he provided the assist for Kobbie Mainoo’s late winner.

The winger made his first start for Erik ten Hag’s side in the league home defeat to Fulham — selected in preference to Amad and Antony — and featured in seven matches across the second half of the campaign.

Forson’s contract at Old Trafford expires on June 30 and there has been no progress on his renewal with the expectation now that he will depart.

United — whose offer to the player remains on the table — will be due a compensation fee should Forson leave this summer.

Forson joined United in January 2019 from Tottenham Hotspur and rose through the ranks of the club’s youth teams, featuring in the Under-18s FA Youth Cup-winning team in 2022 — alongside current first-team stars Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.

Forson is a versatile attacking player who has primarily played either as an attacking midfielder or as a wide midfielder in United’s youth teams.
