It was a massive three points for Ipswich in their most recent game: a 2-1 win against inconsistent Tottenham, away from home.
In their previous 10 matches to start the season, the promoted side had competed well, drawing five and losing five, coming close on several occasions to that morale-boosting first victory.
It finally came in north London, with Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap netting in the first half to give them a 2-0 lead at half-time. Though Rodrigo Bentancur pulled one back in the second half, Kieran McKenna’s side held on.
A big result that, ahead of this weekend’s round of matches, moved them out of the relegation zone. Although, after yesterday’s matches, they have dropped back into the bottom three.
