FA Cup semi-final dates: Man City vs Chelsea on April 20, Man Utd vs Coventry on April 21

The FA Cup semi-final dates have been confirmed, with Manchester City and Chelsea’s tie scheduled for Saturday, April 20, and Manchester United’s match against Coventry City coming the following day.

Manchester City’s match against Chelsea will kick off at 5.15pm GMT (1.15pm ET) and will be shown by the BBC in the UK, while Manchester United’s clash with Coventry begins at 3.30pm GMT (11.30am ET) and will be broadcast by ITV in the UK. Both matches will be played at Wembley Stadium.

“These kick-off times were agreed with the clubs, local authority, members of the Safety Advisory Group and broadcasters, and both matches were deemed medium risk by the police,” an FA statement said.

The slightly earlier kick-off time for Sunday’s tie draws similarities to the Carabao Cup final that took place between Liverpool and Chelsea in February. The English Football League (EFL) had confirmed in January that it had been moved to a 3pm kick-off, following consultation with the Metropolitan Police.

The Briefing: Man United 4 Liverpool 3 – Amad seals incredible turnaround win

Last season’s FA Cup final between the two Manchester clubs was moved to an earlier kick-off time after talks with the FA and the local authority’s safety advisory group, including representatives of the Met. The decision was also influenced by the availability of public transport links between London and Manchester, with the FA keen to ensure fans would be able to travel back from Wembley by train.

Manchester City reached this season’s semi-finals with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United. Chelsea, meanwhile, scored two dramatic goals in stoppage time to beat Leicester City 4-2 in their quarter-final.

Amad’s 121st-minute winner sealed Manchester United’s place at Wembley following a dramatic 4-3 win against rivals Liverpool. Coventry shocked Wolverhampton Wanderers to reach the FA Cup semi-finals for only the second time in their history thanks to two stoppage-time goals at Molineux from Josh Simms and Haji Wright.
