Hello and welcome to The Athletic’s live coverage of the new Formula 1 season… Happy new year!
With the opening race still one month away and the sole pre-season test in Bahrain not taking place until next week, we are in the midst of F1’s launch period.
For this year — and to mark the sport’s 75th anniversary — we have F1 75, a special live event being held in London for the 20 teams to launch their 2025 car liveries.
Those will be the headline act but there will be plenty more going on ahead of tonight’s event too.
