Ecuador fell to a 2-1 loss in their opening match against Venezuela at Levi’s Stadium on Saturday.
Things started off poorly as Enner Valencia was sent off in the 22nd minute after a VAR review penalized him for catching a defender with a high boot. Ecuador turned things around though, going ahead despite the man-disadvantage when Jeremy Sarmiento scored in the 40th minute.
Venezuela controlled the second half though, flipping the games on its head in the space of 10 minutes through goals by Jhonder Cadiz and Eduard Bello.
