Bayern Munich in transfer talks for Fulham’s Joao Palhinha

Bayern Munich have made an offer in the region of €35million (£29.8m, $37.8m) to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham as the German club work to reach an agreement.

The 28-year-old midfielder came close to joining Bayern last summer after agreeing terms, but the move collapsed due to Fulham being unable to find a replacement.

Palhinha has starred for Marco Silva’s side since joining from Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2022, helping Fulham to secure successive mid-table positions in the Premier League.

He was also the subject of a £45m ($58.8m) bid from West Ham United last summer, which Fulham rejected.

In February, Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan said the club would be open to selling Palhina this summer for the right price.

“I would want him (Palhinha) as part of the team for as long as possible and we were very happy to extend his contract, but if an offer came along that would make sense for everyone I think that’s something you have to consider with every player at the right time,” Khan said.

Palhinha has made 79 first-team appearances for Fulham across two seasons, scoring eight goals.
