When actor and singer Chrissy Metz first stepped into what her now home, she just knew it was meant for her. âI remember going into the primary bathroom,â the This Is Us alum says, âand they had these really beautiful ornate wood screens. I was like, âYep, I want to live here.ââ
In the competitive Los Angeles real estate market, Metzâs decisive momentâand offerâcame just four hours after the listing had gone live. For the Emmy-nominated talent, whose decision-making typically wavers between uncertainty and conviction, this was an unequivocal yes. As Metz explains, âFor me, itâs either, âWell, I donât know,â or Iâm like, âYes.â And so if I do ever question anything, it really means no.â
The 5,700-square-foot Spanish Colonial Revivalâstyle residence, located in a lush, gated community, represented more than just increased space and security for Metz. (Metz had experienced a break-in at her prior home.) It was kismet: As she puts it, the place was just âvery intentional and very beautiful,â a quality evident in every detail. âEven the archways have vents that are arched,â Metz observes. âI think itâs different because the owner was the builder, and when the builder actually lives in the house, where thereâs care thatâs takenâitâs just very deliberate and purposeful.â
Krista Schrock and David John Dick of AD PRO Directory firm DISC Interiors were tasked with transforming Metzâs new space into a place that feels like home. Their partnership began unexpectedlyâthrough the teamâs design consultation website. âI thought thatâs what I was doing [by giving them a call],â Metz says of what she thought would be a quick conversation. âAnd theyâre like, âOh, we thought you just wanted a consult.â And I [said], âOh, no, no, I need you to do my whole house.ââ
What followed was a design process conducted largely via Zoom, with Metz as an engaged client. âI didnât know how particular I was until we were going through it,â she admits, describing, for instance, her Princess and the Peaâlike search for the ideal dining chair. âI must have sat on, I donât know, 20 different dining room chairs. The chairs have to be comfortable, but your feet have to touch the ground, but the back has to beâ¦Iâm like, âChrissy, just pick a chair.ââ
